Namba dances into the world of Baryshnikov with her show

When Mikhail Baryshnikov was here last November for a Ballet Hawaii dance concert, he invited Anne Namba to present a fashion show at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York.

; ; “;So I created a new collection in his honor that has a fluid feel and look,”; Anne said. The “;Fashions in Motion”; show, with a line of jewelry by Meng Dynasty owner Anna Meng complementing the fashions, will be presented at Barysnikov's center May 6. But people in Hawaii will get the first look at Anne's show April 18 during a Ballet Hawaii benefit brunch at the Halekulani, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dancers from Ballet Hawaii and private studios will perform. “;The fashions in the Lyrical segment will flow when modeled and feature my new print, Amethyst Flower, incorporating shades of green, blue and lavender,”; Anne said. Other highlights include kimono and evening groupings. Tickets are $100 a seat. Premium tables of 10 are $1,500. Call Judy Muncaster at Ballet Hawaii, 521-8600, for reservations. Safeway Hawaii kicks off a monthlong awareness and fundraising campaign for People With Disabilities today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its Kapahulu store. Miss Hawaii Raeceen Woolford, 3660 On The Rise chef-owner Russell Siu and Steve Uyehara from Hawaii News Now will be bagging customers' groceries to raise awareness and money for Easter Seals Hawaii and Special Olympics Hawaii. Mayor Mufi Hannemann will make an appearance at the store about 10 a.m. The campaign is active at all 19 Hawaii Safeway stores throughout April. Shoppers will be able to donate to Easter Seals Hawaii, Special Olympics Hawaii and a select group of local autism-related organizations at their neighborhood Safeway.
