UH tennis team beats Marquette

The Hawaii men's tennis team defeated Marquette 6-1 yesterday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.

The Rainbow Warriors jumped out early, sweeping all three matches in doubles to secure the first point. Hawaii continued its hot streak, taking five of six singles matches. Hawaii improved to 6-4 for the season.

 

James heads QB Club slate

Hawaii women's track and field coach Carmyn James heads the list of speakers at tomorrow's meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club.

James will discuss the Wahine team's performance at the WAC indoor championships in Idaho. UH men's golf coach Ronn Miyashiro will speak about this year's team and the upcoming Barona Collegiate Cup.

Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program begins at noon at Maple Garden restaurant. The general public is invited.

BYUH men sweep Grand Canyon

Brigham Young-Hawaii took all nine events against Grand Canyon in men's tennis in Laie.

Rong Ma, the Seasiders' top seed and Division II's 10th-ranked singles player, led the way, defeating the Antelopes' Patrice Giraldi 6-0, 6-3, as well as teaming up with Dillon Porter to beat Giraldi and Will Herbert in doubles.

With the win BYU-Hawaii improves to 6-1.

» The third-ranked Brigham Young-Hawaii women's tennis team swept Hawaii-Hilo 9-0 yesterday at the BYUH courts to improve to 8-0.

The Seasiders dropped the Vulcan men 8-1 yesterday to improve to 7-1.

 

BYUH softball loses 4 to GCU

The Brigham Young-Hawaii softball team dropped a pair of doubleheaders to Grand Canyon in Laie this weekend.

The Antelopes dominated the opener, winning 12-0 behind a no-hitter by Amy Searcy.

BYU-Hawaii fell behind early in Friday's second game and was unable to mount a comeback as Grand Canton rolled to an 18-5 victory.

Yesterday, the Seasiders and Antelopes were tied going into the bottom of the seventh when Kelli Bridges drove home Kara Holtorf with a walk-off single to win the opener 4-3.

In the series finale Grand Canyon jumped out early and rode a strong performance by Ivy Campas, who pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts as seventh-ranked Grand Canyon improved to 18-4 overall and 8-4 in the PacWest.

With the series loss BYU-Hawaii fell to 0-16 on the season and 0-8 in the PacWest.
