'Battlestar' actor Park to join 'Five-0'

The fourth actor to be cast in the pilot episode of CBS' revamped “;Hawaii Five-O”; was announced yesterday by the Hollywood Reporter.

Grace Park, better known for her role in the hit sci-fi series “;Battlestar Galactica”; as Lt. Sharon “;Boomer”; Valeri, will be playing the character of Kono Kalakaulau, the niece of squad member Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim of “;Lost”;).

Park joins fellow actors Kim, Alex O'Loughlin and Taryn Manning in the “;Five-O”; cast that has been announced so far. Filming is expected to start on Oahu sometime next month.

Kailua grads sharpen skills to aid school

Kailua High School alumni are stepping up to help their alma mater at the school's first dinner and auction fundraiser, set from 5:30-9 p.m. March 12 at Luana Hills Country Club.

KHS grads have signed on to entertain, emcee and plan the menu.

The emcee will be Crystal Akana of Island Radio 98.5-FM, class of 2001; entertainment will be provided by kumu Hauoli Akaka and kumu Kukahoomalu Souza, also 2001 graduates; and the menu was developed by chef Jay Matsukawa, class of 1994.

Tickets cost $45 and can be purchased by calling 952-6990.

All proceeds will benefit the principal's discretionary fund, which has been used for a variety of expenses, including security at school/ community events, bus transportation, career fairs, band trips, open houses and school awards.
