Kamehameha running back Ryan Ho is on his way east.

The Star-Bulletin All-State Offensive Player of the Year has accepted a scholarship offer from Duquesne University, an FCS program in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Ho was on the radar of schools like St. Francis (Pa.), an FCS school, and Oregon State, which asked him to walk on.

After a visit to Pittsburgh, home of Duquesne, it was a done deal.

“;When he came back from the visit, he really enjoyed it,”; Kamehameha coach David Stant said. “;Oregon State was going to let him walk on. He actually made the team without showing up yet. He was torn between Oregon State and this offer.”;

;

Ho rushed for 1,530 yards and scored 19 touchdowns as Kamehameha captured the state championship. He also played soccer, helping the Warriors reach the state semifinals.

“;I'm happy for him. He's a good kid and has a great work ethic,”; Stant said. “;He's a humble guy.”;

Duquesne was 3-8 last season. The top two running backs are underclassmen. Larry McCoy, a freshman, rushed for 807 yards and eight touchdowns last fall. Junior Cleodis Williams had 587 yards and two touchdowns.
