Adalberto Santos had three hits and drove in two runs and Oregon State capitalized on three straight walks in the sixth inning to defeat Hawaii 7-3 yesterday at Les Murakami Stadium.

A crowd of 1,705 saw the Beavers (2-0) defeat the Rainbows (0-2) for the second straight day. Tanner Robles earned the win, allowing three runs over 5 1/3 innings. Matt Sisto took the loss for Hawaii, giving up six runs in 5 2/3 innings.

The Beavers scored all seven runs in two different innings. The Beavers scored four times in the third, stringing together six consecutive hits. In the sixth, OSU drew three consecutive two-out walks, loading the bases for Tyler Smith. After one run scored on a wild pitch, Smith delivered a two-run single to give the Beavers a five-run cushion.

“;What helped us is we were able to put up a crooked number in two innings and limit them to one,”; Oregon State coach Pat Casey said. “;We've been able to capitalize on a couple of big innings and at the same time, minimize them to just one run.”;

Sisto allowed all six of his hits in consecutive order in the third.

Michael Miller and Smith started the sequence with one-out singles, and Santos followed with a two-run double to tie the game. Rob Folsom drove in Santos with a run-scoring single and scored on Stefen Romero's base hit after stealing second base.

“;Sisto wasn't making good pitches,”; Hawaii coach Mike Trapasso said. “;The balls they hit were up.”;

Sisto was otherwise flawless until he fatigued in the sixth, walking two straight batters with two outs. Connor Little replaced Sisto and immediately walked Carter Bell to load the bases. Miller worked an eight-pitch walk off Little to load the bases after a wild pitch scored Jared Norris. Smith followed with a two-run single up the middle and the Beavers took a 7-2 lead.

“;The three-spot is the one that kills you because it doesn't matter what your situation is, when you walk three guys in a row with two outs you're asking for trouble,”; Trapasso said. “;You're going to have something bad happen and that's what you have to stay away from.”;

Kolten Wong finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and Collin Bennett, who jumped from seventh on Friday night to fifth in the order yesterday, hit a solo homer in the second to give Hawaii a 2-0 lead.

“;It was 3-1 and I was thinking fastball and try to hit it the other way,”; Bennett said. “;I've been mostly sitting on fastballs (the first two games) and have been pretty successful with that.”;

After an ugly opening night, UH did not commit an error, but did have two more runners picked off at first base.

“;We made some baserunning mistakes, but we're really trying to be aggressive and make some things happen on the bases,”; Trapasso said. “;But you can't be reckless on the bases and you can't run yourself out of innings.”;

Greg Garcia scored twice and freshman Trent Allianic pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings of relief in his first appearance in a UH uniform.

“;He was nervous as could be, but he came in and threw enough strikes,”; Trapasso said. “;He had great command of his changeup and showed us that you just have to have command of two of your pitches coming out of the bullpen to be successful.”;

The Rainbows will turn to junior Josh Slaats to pick up their first win of the season. Slaats will oppose Oregon State's Greg Peavey in the third game of the series today at 1:05 p.m.
