Xeriscape Garden offers class on worms

Learn how to recycle organic waste with the help of a wriggling worm tomorrow at Halawa Xeriscape Garden.

The Board of Water Supply, Waikiki Worm Company and the Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden will join forces to teach island residents about worm harvesting and how the creatures can help fertilize plants and conserve water. For $30, participants will receive a starter colony of worms, container to hold them in and an owner's manual. Friends and family members may also attend the workshop for an additional $10 per person.

A free, 15-minute tour of the garden will also be offered tomorrow at 9:45 a.m.

Local indie bands to stage reunion show

Take a trip back to the Honolulu musical indie scene, circa 1999, with a special reunion show at thirtyninehotel's “;Kaleidoscope”; weekly music showcase.

After disbanding in 2000 when its members decided to move away from Hawaii, Choda returns for the first of two reunion shows next week. Band members James Baguio, Victor Balatico, Glenn Bedar and Paul Bajcar will headline at thirtyninehotel on Tuesday alongside local bands Clones of the Queen and Shopping List; they'll follow up with a second reunion concert Feb. 26 at Anna Bannana's.
