UH business school holds fundraiser at Kahala Hotel

The 10th annual “;Executive Vineyards,”; a fundraising event for the University of Hawaii Manoa Shidler College of Business Alumni Association, is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. March 11 at the Kahala Hotel & Resort.

Hundreds of wines from M&S Brokerage and Better Brands will be available for tasting, along with food from the hotel's restaurants. A silent auction will offer dining certificates, hotel accommodations, travel, art and other items.

Proceeds will benefit the endowed scholarship fund for students at Shidler College and will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Shidler matching gifts program.

Premium and general admission pre-sale tickets are $95 and $75, respectively. Prices go up $10 each after Feb. 26. Tickets may be purchased via phone at 956-3262 or online at www.shidler.hawaii.edu/ExecutiveVineyards.

 

Ward holiday trolley tours raise $11,000 for food bank

Ward Centers has raised more than $11,000 for the Hawaii Food Bank through its Honolulu City Lights Trolley Tour.

Tours run every year during December, with ticket sales beginning after Thanksgiving.

Workshop offers pointers on 4G wireless services

The Hawaii Telecommunications Association will be presenting a workshop on fourth-generation, or 4G, wireless services.

Jon Gelman, vice president of business and government markets for Clearwire Corp., will share what businessees need to know about 4G services to take advantage of its growth. Gelman is a 25-year telecommunications veteran.

The workshop is from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Hale Koa Hotel. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. It costs $24 for HTCA members, $34 for nonmembers.

 

Luncheon details government business opportunities

“;Cha-Ching! Government Opportunities for Small A/E/C Firms and Vendors”; is the title of this month's lunch program by the Society for Marketing Professionals.

Contracting opportunities available within the federal and state governments will be discussed, and attendees will have the opportunity to network with small-business representatives and advocates from the military, federal and state sectors.

The cost for the Feb. 24 luncheon, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Plaza Club, starts at $30 for SMPS members and varies according to affiliation. Registration can be completed online at www.smpshawaii.org.
