For nearly 16 matches, the Kealakehe Waveriders were perfect.

Punahou didn't approve.

The top-seeded Buffanblu (10-1-3) scored all their goals in the final 23 minutes, rallying for a 3-1 semifinal win over the previously undefeated Waveriders.

“;Cody (Sia) and John (Cloutier) really nailed down,”; coach Dave Trifonovitch said of his top defenders. “;Kealakehe's style is they want to get the ball in back quickly and use their speed. They've got good size and great speed.”;

“;Punahou's a very good ball-handling team,”; Kealakehe coach Urs Leuenberger said. “;We took to them our direct style of play. We almost got that second goal (a miss by Lane Lorenzo) and the margin was thin.”;

Fourth-seeded Kealakehe (15-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute when Kane Malone scored off a cross from Lorenzo. That goal held up for what seemed an eternity and the Waveriders seemed primed to make the final for a first time.

Punahou tied the game on a Sia header.

“;I usually run front, but this time me and John (Cloutier) both went in,”; Sia said of his third goal of the season.

Scott Granger's corner kick was perfectly delivered, and the game was tied in the 57th minute.

Ten minutes later, Christian Patmont's 30-yard blast escaped the hands of Kealakehe's goalkeeper, giving Punahou its first lead.

“;Coach said to take more shots. They weren't on us tight,”; Patmont said. “;I had the space, so I took it.”;

The ball swerved right like a screwball and somehow got away from the keeper.

Quintin Love added a 1-on-1 goal from the right side at the 77th minute to seal the win.

“;I had the same play yesterday,”; Love said. “;It was on the left and I barely missed.”;
