Moanalua moves on in OIA Red basketball playoffs

Jasmine Funtanilla scored a game-high 14 points as Moanalua defeated host Kapolei 46-42 to advance in the OIA Red girls basketball playoffs.

Na Menehune used a 12-4 run in the third quarter to squeak out the win.

In the loss, Leilani Tauani-Fifita scored 14 points for Kapolei, which plays Mililani tonight for fifth-place in the league.

Led by Jordan Ahakuelo's game-high 17 points, the Chargers stayed alive in the double-elimination portion of the OIA Red playoffs with a win against the visiting Trojans.

A one-point halftime lead ballooned to 10 after three quarters, which proved too much for Mililani.

Pearl City moves onto an elimination game against Moanalua today.

Down by 12 after the first quarter, the visiting Cougars rallied for a victory at Leilehua to advance in the OIA White playoffs.

Mele Adams scored a game-high 24 points for Kaiser.

In the loss, Patricia Lindo scored 10 for Leilehua, which saw its season come to an end.

Freddy Tailulu made one of two free throws with 3.1 seconds left as Na Alii edged the host Mauraders in an OIA Red West game.

Tailulu led Aiea with nine points.

Waipahu's Tatupu Tatupu had a game-high 21 points.

The game was postponed a day after a basket malfunction.
