Kaufman wins WAC track award

Hawaii's Amber Kaufman was named the Western Athletic Conference women's indoor track and field athlete of the week yesterday.

Kaufman won the high jump at the University of Washington Indoor Preview in Seattle last weekend. Her mark of 6 feet, 11/2 inches, earned her a berth in the NCAA Indoor Championships.

 

WAC tennis honor for UH's Lajola

Hawaii junior Dennis Lajola was named the Western Athletic Conference men's tennis player of the week.

Lajola went 3-0 in first singles to help the Rainbow Warriors to wins over Saint Mary's, Nevada and UC Santa Barbara over the weekend.

 

UH cheerleaders place eighth

The Hawaii cheerleading team placed eighth at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Collegiate National Championships over the weekend in Orlando, Fla.

UH was among 15 schools entered in the Coed Division IA competition, won by Kentucky.
