Dinners at Roy's raise funds for Haitian earthquake relief

;  Chef Roy Yamaguchi might know little about Haitian cuisine, but he's not letting that get in the way of a benefit dinner for Haitian relief at Roy's Hawaii Kai. Nor is he concerned about price.

This dinner has no set cost. You come, you eat, you write a check to the American Red Cross and put it in an envelope. All the envelopes go straight to the charity to help victims of Haiti's devastating earthquake.

The first dinner on Friday is sold out, but a second is planned for 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

“;I don't have a lot of experience with Caribbean food,”; Yamaguchi said, “;but I will give it my best shot. I'm not afraid of embarrassing myself for a cause as important as this.”;

Also, “;I wouldn't mind if someone with some background in Haitian cooking could lend me a hand.”;

Reservations are going fast: 396-7697.
