Kauai meeting follows up on Kuhio work

Kauai residents are invited to a follow-up informational meeting concerning safety improvements to Kuhio Highway between Hanamaulu and Wailua.

Improvements recently implemented include a reduction of the speed limit, additional signage and widening of the shoulders to accommodate emergency vehicles, according to state transportation officials.

The improvements were made following community meetings about safety issues along that corridor of the highway.

“;We also made the commitment to follow up with the community and assess the effectiveness of the improvements that were made, so we are keeping our word,”; said Jiro Sumada, deputy transportation director, highways division.

The meeting will be Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Wilcox Elementary School cafeteria, 4319 Hardy St.
