Hawaii junior Joshua Walker, the Most Outstanding Player of last week's Outrigger Hotels Invitational, was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation co-player of the week yesterday.

Walker averaged 5.25 kills per set while hitting .466 over three matches, including a match-high 24 kills in the four-set victory over top-ranked USC on Saturday.

Cal State Northridge senior middle blocker Kevin McKniff shared the weekly honor.

Also yesterday, Hawaii (2-1) moved up to No. 8 in the latest AVCA poll. The Warriors were No. 12 in the preseason poll.

Despite losing to Hawaii on Saturday, USC retained the No. 1 spot. The Trojans, receiving six first-place votes, were followed by Cal State Northridge (3-0). Tied for third are Stanford (0-0) and UC Irvine (3-1).

Hawaii opens the MPSF season Friday at Stanford.
