Keiki asked for tofu haiku

Kapolei Library is hoping to discover youthful sparks of inspiration with a contest that involves an ode to that nutritious block of processed soybeans, tofu.

The “;Tofu Haiku Contest,”; open to children ages 7 to 17, runs through Jan. 30.

Two grand prizes of a family package to Wet 'N' Wild Hawaii will be awarded, as well as runner-up prizes from sponsor Aloha Tofu.

A haiku is a three-line poem that begins with a five-syllable line, followed by a seven-syllable line and ending with a five-syllable line.

Poems will be displayed in the library, with the winner announced Feb. 27. For details, call 693-7050.
