Lagrimas to perform at Dragon Upstairs

Former Hawaii resident Abe Lagrimas Jr. continues his holiday homecoming tour this weekend with another special guest performer at the Dragon Upstairs in Chinatown.

Lagrimas, who recently released a new album, “;Ukulele Vibes,”; and now lives in Los Angeles, will be joined by New York-based saxophone player Arun Luthra. Local jazz heavyweight DeShannon Higa, pianist Jeanette Trevias and bass player Jon Hawes round out the evening's musical lineup.

Line-dancing classes welcome beginners

Looking for a new hobby in 2010? Start off the year line dancing with Salome, who specializes in dancers with “;two left feet”; and little to no experiences.

Partners aren't necessary in line dancing—just show up willing to learn and Salome will take care of the rest. Music selections range from rhumbas, waltzes and cha chas to traditional country tunes. Classes are held in an air-conditioned room at Our Redeemer Lutheran School; beginner lessons are offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, with a beginner/intermediate class to follow from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Ample free parking is available on site.
