Straub Clinic & Hospital and Kauai Medical Clinic patients may now access and manage their medical records and communicate with their doctors online.

Hawaii Pacific Health has launched MyHealthAdvantage, a free online 24/7 health connection it says is designed to help patients become more involved in managing their own health care needs.

Patients can use the online service to schedule medical appointments, view test results, request prescription refills, view health summaries from their electronic health record, access health information resources and communicate with their primary care physicians.

“;MyHealthAdvantage offers a unique approach to health care. It bridges the gap between doctors and patients, empowering patients to become partners with their doctors and truly manage their care proactively,”; said Dr. Dale Glenn, chief of family medicine at Straub, in a news release.

Straub and Kauai Medical Clinic patients who want to participate in MyHealthAdvantage can obtain an activation code during the next appointment with their primary care physician, or they can call the activation line at 535-7725 on Oahu or (877) 228-1894 toll-free, or log on to www.hawaiipacifichealth.org.

Hawaii Pacific Health has been working five years to implement electronic medical records throughout its network and lay the foundation for MyHealthAdvantage.

HPH is ranked among the top 3.7 percent of hospitals nationally to be recognized for adopting electronic medical records, according to the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
