Hawaii golfer Tadd Fujikawa was granted a sponsor's exemption yesterday to play in the 2010 Sony Open in Hawaii.

The PGA tournament tees off at the Waialae Country Club on Jan. 14—the week after Fujikawa celebrates his 19th birthday.

At the 2007 Sony Open, Fujikawa became the youngest amateur to make the cut at a PGA Tour event in nearly 50 years.

Last year after qualifying at Turtle Bay, Fujikawa had another good four days at Waialae, including a 62 in the third round that had him as high as eighth place before he settled for a tie for 32nd. Fujikawa attempted to earn his PGA Tour card at qualifying school in October, but didn't advance past the first stage.
