Hawaii middle and high school students are invited to create public service announcements focusing on teen health issues for the 2010 HMSA Teen Video Awards Contest.

The Hawaii Medical Service Association sponsors the annual contest with the state Department of Education and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Contest categories include fitness/nutrition, drug-free, tobacco-free, underage drinking prevention and social issues, which may include such topics as teen pregnancy, Internet safety, bullying, teen suicide and date rape.

Students must submit fully produced PSAs up to 27 seconds in length. Content, impact/effectiveness, creativity and videography will be considered in selecting winners, which will be broadcast on local television stations. Entries must be submitted by March 1.

Prizes include money for the school to purchase video equipment or software.
