Helemano Farms sell grown trees

Get out of the chaos of sorting through sticky tied-up bundles and buy your Christmas tree direct from the farm.

Helemano Farms in Central Oahu grows thousands of Norfolk pine Christmas trees. Prices range from $40 (6 feet and under) to $210 (up to 15 feet). Trees will be cut, wrapped and loaded free of charge.

Christmas wreaths will also be on sale, for $25.

Helemano Farms is located in Whitmore Village in Wahiawa, at the end of Whitmore Avenue. Call 622-4287 or visit www.helemanofarms.com.

Shutterbugs offer talents to needy

Getting that special family portrait is always important during the holiday season, and a global project is putting out to call to all photographers to help out with Help-Portrait.

Photographers from around the world will be offering their time, equipment and expertise to give back to those families who are less fortunate.

Help-Portrait currently has around 3,600 photographers involved in more than 400 locations, including more than 40 countries.

Local photographer Brady Oshiro said via e-mail that “;none of the photographers or volunteers involved are being paid or making money off these photographs. None of the pictures taken will be used (for) personal Web sites or portfolios.”;

Help-Portrait would like to give at least one 5-by-7 or 8-by-10-inch photo to each family.

The Hawaii chapter site at www.helpportraithawaii.com includes testimonials of how this project has already made a difference in the lives of many. Those interested can also go to In4mation at the Ward Warehouse to find out more.
