Masked man allegedly steals purse

A masked man stole a 58-year-old woman's purse at gunpoint yesterday morning in Makiki, police said.

About 2:15 a.m., the woman was walking home when a man wearing a ski mask approached her, brandished a handgun and demanded her wallet. The woman gave the man her purse and he fled in a vehicle. She did not know the suspect and declined to file a complaint, police said.


Man arrested in stabbing of mother

Police arrested a 28-year-old Waikiki man who allegedly stabbed his 53-year-old mother after she didn't give him any money.

Police said the man asked his mother for money about 4 a.m. Wednesday. When she said she didn't have any, he stabbed her in the hip with a paring knife, police said.

The man was found Friday night at his Niu Street apartment and he was booked on suspicion of second-degree assault.
