Wind played havoc with power lines tonight with Thanksgiving Day outages in the Kalihi, Mapunapuna and Punahou areas.

An outage affecting 2,700 customers was reported in the Punahou area about 8:30 p.m., and power was restored an hour later. Spokeswoman Jan Miller said a power line swinging due to the wind caused sparking and the outage.

From 5 to 6:30 p.m. wind caused an outage in the Kapalama area, affecting 2,100 customers, Miller said.

A power pole was damaged by wind on Puuloa Road near Nimitz Highway about 7 p.m., and 16 customers were without power, she said.

About 7:30 p.m., wind was reported to have caused an outage in the Waiakamilo Road area, affecting four customers, including a church, Miller said.
