Charles Kaalekahi III has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the University of Hawaii.

“;I'm still pretty excited. Playing for UH is something I wanted to do,”; said Kaalekahi, who faxed the letter to the 'Bows on Monday.

He turned down offers from Arizona State, Cal, Kansas State, Long Beach State and UCLA.

Kaalekahi, who has a 3.5 grade-point average at Campbell High, was a Star-Bulletin All-State first-team selection last year. The right-hander posted a 5-2 mark with a 0.72 ERA as a junior. He struck out 39 and walked just nine in 48 innings.

During last season's state tourney, he didn't allow an earned run and also hit .429.
