Japan golfers top Hawaii

Japan came from two points down to beat Hawaii 23 1/2 to 20 1/2 in the USA Hawaii-Japan Junior Cup at Waikoloa Beach Resort's Kings' Course yesterday.

“;The Hawaii team put forward a great effort,”; said Mary Bea Porter King, president of the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association and the team captain. “;They played spirited golf and never stopped battling. I'm very proud of them.”;

 

Hawaii's Ho loses in semifinal

Coco Ho won her quarterfinal heat yesterday, but lost in the semifinals of the Movistar Peru Classic surf contest at Lobitos, Peru.

Ho beat Rosanne Hodge in the quarters and lost to Stephanie Gilmore in the semis of the ASP Women's World Tour event.

Sofia Mulanovich beat top-ranked Gilmore in the final.

Ho is ranked fourth on the tour.
