More than 20 students were treated at Waianae High School following a brawl on campus.

The patients complained of being exposed to pepper spray or being assaulted, said Bryan Cheplic, city Emergency Services Department spokesman. All were treated and released at the school.

Police said there were several fights at about 10:45 a.m. yesterday.

There were conflicting reports of the number of juveniles arrested. Waianae police said a juvenile male and juvenile female were arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and harassment of a police officer. Police said the juvenile male tried to hit an officer when the officer tried to break up a fight. Pepper spray was used on one of the suspects, but it was not clear which one.

Honolulu police spokeswoman Michelle Yu said three juvenile females and one juvenile male were arrested. All were taken to the Kapolei police substation and released to their parents.

The school was put on lockdown. School administrators could not be reached for comment.

Police returned at the end of the school day as a precaution to ensure that no additional fights occurred.
