The American Red Cross is collecting donations for the victims of the tsunami in the Samoan Islands, the flooding and typhoons in the Philippines and the earthquakes in Indonesia.

The total so far remains unclear as the Hawaii State Chapter has been channeling donations to the national headquarters, said chapter Chief Executive Officer Coralie Matayoshi.

Donations help provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance.

The American Red Cross has two donation drives: a Disaster Relief Fund helping victims in American Samoa and an International Response Fund helping those in Indonesia, the Philippines and Samoa. To donate call (800) RED-CROSS or visit http://www.redcross.org.

Meanwhile, the Hawaii Medical Service Association is donating $10,000 to help people left homeless after the recent Pacific disasters.
