City recycling gets TV channel

Programs about the city's recycling and waste management efforts are hitting the airwaves.

The city plans to launch “;Opalavision”; on Oct. 23 in conjunction with “;The “;Green Aloha Concert”; at Sunset on the Beach in Waikiki that same day, the city said in a news release.

Opalavision will launch on a new channel on Oceanic Time Warner Cable, the Green Channel (332). Both will debut the same time as the concert, the city said. Episodes also can be viewed online at opala.org.

The three-minute episodes about the city's waste management programs are produced by Oceanic for the city Department of Environmental Services.

The concert will feature the music of Henry Kapono, and the program's cast includes Ari Dalbert, Brandi Taylor and Cody Gomes.
