Isles' post offices to cut back hours

POSTED: Wednesday, October 07, 2009

Dozens of post offices on Oahu, Maui and Kauai are reducing hours because of declining mail volume and revenues.

U.S. Postal Service officials monitored retail traffic patterns to determine the most efficient hours of operation for post offices, said district manager Daryl Ishizaki in a news release. “;Retail hours can and do regularly change based on customer needs and customer traffic. The goal is to get our products to our customers as efficiently as possible,”; he said.

The reduced hours will not affect access to post office boxes. Reduced hours at post offices on Hawaii island have yet to be determined.
