Floral Parade celebrates hula

The Aloha Festivals, Hawaii's oldest and largest Hawaiian cultural celebration, presents its annual Floral Parade this weekend along Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki.

Now in its 63rd year, the theme for tomorrow's parade is “;Hula, Let the Story Be Told.”; Equestrian riders from each of the Hawaiian Islands will be the focal point, with additional support from local hula halau and marching bands.

Be sure to get to Waikiki early—while the parade is scheduled to start at noon, the Honolulu Police Department will begin shutting down portions of Kalakaua as early as 8:30 a.m.

Kalihi party promises to be entertaining

The Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii Foundation and the City and County of Honolulu present the third annual “;Taste of Kalihi”; tomorrow.

The annual block party celebrates Kalihi's colorful history and serves as a fundraiser for Helping Hands Hawaii. Along with food and drink vendors and a variety of historical displays, families will be able to enjoy activities including “;Hawaii's Largest Cupid Shuffle and Electric Slide,”; hip-hop dance and mixed martial arts exhibitions and live performances by the Royal Hawaiian Band, High Frequency, Johnny's Rock Society Revival 2, The Eddie B. Band and On the Flip Side.
