Bradley comes up big for UH

HENDERSON, Nev. » Junior wide receiver Rodney Bradley had another outstanding game, catching eight passes for a team- and career-high 189 yards.

That included a 39-yard touchdown in the second quarter that gave UH its biggest lead of the game, 17-7. It did not include a pass interference call he drew in the end zone that put the ball on the UNLV 2, setting up Alex Green's touchdown that gave the Warriors their final lead.

“;We were making plays, they were making plays, we were making plays,”; Bradley said. “;But they won, so then it didn't matter. We just have to get back home and look at the film and see how we can make the plays we didn't make.”;

Kiesel-Kauhane leads way with a dozen tackles

Linebacker R.J. Kiesel-Kauhane led the Warriors with 12 tackles. Fellow linebackers Corey Paredes and Blaze Soares had 10 each.

UNLV dominated time of possession, as the Rebels had the ball for 34 minutes and 14 seconds. Hawaii ran just four offensive plays in the third quarter.

“;I can say this, we didn't make a lot of plays we should've made, and that kept us on the field,”; Kiesel-Kauhane said.

Chances slip through Warriors' fingers

Hawaii won the turnover battle for the second straight game, but a few that got away could have made the difference in the contest.

Sophomore nickel back Richard Torres came up with his first career interception near the goal line to thwart a UNLV drive in the second quarter. Safety Mana Silva turned in his third pick in the last two games.

The Warriors had their hands on the ball late in the game, but couldn't come down with it.

“;We missed a couple of interceptions that could have put the ballgame away, but we didn't make the play and Las Vegas did make the play,”; UH head coach Greg McMackin said.

Taylor, Meatoga sprain ankles

UH receiver Jovonte Taylor left the game with an ankle injury in the first quarter, and did not return. Royce Pollard took over and caught two passes for 22 yards and had a 41-yard kickoff return in the second half.

Defensive tackle Vaughn Meatoga also sprained his ankle. Both said they expect to be ready for UH's Western Athletic Conference opener against Louisiana Tech on Sept. 30.

Defensive ends Paipai Falemalu (ankle) and John Fonoti (knee) didn't suit up for the game.
