VIGNETTES

New lifestyle magazine seeking public input

A new lifestyle publication, FLUX Hawaii Magazine, is slated to launch in January, and its creators are busy as bees getting ready for that unveiling. As such, they've approached five visual artists to render their response to the question, “;Where is Hawaii transitioning to?”;

Answers arrived via painting, digital art, photography, printmaking and even toilet paper. Now, creators Lisa Yamada and Cody Matsukawa are already reaching out to prospective readers, asking them to vote on the artwork that would best serve as a cover image for the inaugural issue. Pitch your opinion at http://www.fluxhawaii.com/features. Deadline to cast a vote is Nov. 15.

Yamada and Matsukawa decided to venture into the treacherous world of publishing after finding themselves “;scrambling for jobs in a jobless economy.”;

The magazine targets 21- to 45-year-olds and will cover fashion, food, art, music and travel, both locally and internationally.

Editor and publisher Yamada and Matsukawa are joined in the venture by Ara Laylo, formerly of the now defunct SMART Magazine.
