Fehoko narrows list

Farrington defensive end/linebacker V.J. Fehoko listed Hawaii, Texas Tech, UCLA, Utah and Utah State as his final five choices yesterday.

The senior was a Star-Bulletin All-State first-team selection as a defensive end last season. He transferred to Kahuku in the offseason, but had a change of heart and returned to the Governors before the school year began.

Ann Kang tourney on tap at 'Iolani

There will be a new champ this week at the Ann Kang Invitational.

The annual girls volleyball tournament is still loaded, however, with some of Hawaii's and California's powerhouse programs. Redondo Union, Edison, Mater Dei and Van Nuys are the mainland entries. Some of the local teams include Punahou, Hawaii Baptist, Kahuku, Mid-Pacific and host 'Iolani.

The Raiders won the Kauai Challenge title on Saturday.

The tournament, named after late 'Iolani coach Ann Kang, runs tomorrow through Saturday.

Word of Life cancels game

Word of Life has canceled its football game against Farrington, which was scheduled for Saturday.

Word of Life, in its second varsity season, suffered injuries to five key players during a recent scrimmage.

“;It would be totally reckless to play Farrington in this situation,”; coach Joe Onosai said.

The injured players will likely be back for Word of Life's nonconference game against Waipahu next week.
