Special duty

Bryant Moniz's orange practice jersey looks somewhat out of place among the green and white shirts. But the backup quarterback is enjoying being part of special teams drills as the coaches evaluate which players will serve on the kick coverage and return units.

“;It's a lot of fun,”; Moniz said. “;I just like to compete in whatever way I can to help the team, whatever way I can get on the field.”;

Moniz has been fourth in the quarterback rotation, and special teams could be a way to use his athletic abilities. Moniz, a standout passer at Leilehua, said he hasn't played special teams since Pop Warner.
