Mililani man arrested after woman alleges sex assault

Police charged a 30-year-old Mililani man yesterday with first-degree sexual assault for allegedly attacking a 19-year-old woman in Ewa Beach.

Gary Odell Austin Jr., of Anu Loop, was being held on $50,000 bail in connection with the charge. Police said the woman reported that the sexual assault occurred on July 3 between 1:15 and 1:30 a.m.

Odell was arrested Friday at 3010 Lyman Road on Schofield Barracks Military Reservation.

Man accused of punching 60-year-old woman in face

Police arrested a 49-year-old man who allegedly punched a 60-year-old woman in the face after she refused to give him a dollar and a cigarette.

The suspect was booked on second-degree assault after being arrested at Castle Medical Center Friday upon his release for unrelated injuries, police said.

Police said the attack occurred Monday at Kam IV Housing. The man allegedly asked for the items, then punched her when she refused, according to police.

Former Pizza Hut manager arrested in 2008 theft case

Police charged a 32-year-old former Pizza Hut night manager for allegedly stealing a night deposit of cash and checks last year.

Police said Daniel A. Young turned himself in Thursday , and was charged with second-degree theft.

On Feb. 15, 2008, Young failed to deposit the previous day's deposit of $1,151 from the Pizza Hut in Aikahi Shopping Center at 25 Kaneohe Bay Drive, police said.

Police had not been able to locate Young before Thursday.

Waikiki restaurant reports safe stolen during the night

A safe was stolen from a Waikiki restaurant early yesterday, Honolulu police said.

The owner of Due Divino closed the business on Saturday at 12:30 a.m. and realized the safe was missing upon opening the restaurant at 7 a.m., said police who have no suspects.

Police did not give details about the contents of the safe.
