A man who gave a 13-year-old girl a ride last week in Waikiki allegedly tried to get her to work as a prostitute, then raped her, police said.

The girl, who stands just under 5 feet and weighs less than 100 pounds, feared the 6-foot-1, 260-pound man would hurt her if she fought back, police said in an affidavit filed in Honolulu District Court.

The girl told police the man tried to get her to perform oral sex on him for $100 and propositioned her to work as a prostitute for him. He eventually took her to a secluded area where he fondled her and sexually assaulted her in his vehicle, the police affidavit alleged.

Police arrested Felix Thaxton on Wednesday, and prosecutors charged him Thursday with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of third-degree sexual assault, criminal solicitation and two counts of first-degree promoting prostitution. Bail was set at $250,000.

Thaxton was aware of her age because one of the first things he did was ask her how old she was, to which she replied she was 13, the police affidavit said.

The girl understood what Thaxton was proposing when he propositioned her to work as a prostitute for him, police said. Thaxton allegedly told her that he had two other girls, ages 17 and 14, working as prostitutes, police said.

He also asked her if she would have sex with his acquaintance for money, then took her to meet another pimp, the affidavit said.

Thaxton has convictions of promoting a dangerous drug in 1997, a Class A felony. His probation was modified or revoked in 2005, and he was resentenced.
