3 men charged on cockfight counts

Police arrested three men Friday night on misdemeanor cruelty to animal charges in connection with an apparent cockfight in Waianae.

The men ages, 48, 32, and 28, were arrested at 87-1029 Hakimo Road in Nanakuli at 10:50 p.m. The 28-year-old man was also cited for possession of a gaff used in cockfighting.

The three men posted bail ranging from $250 to $2,500 and were released early yesterday morning.

Teenager dies while free-diving

A 16-year-old boy apparently drowned Friday while free-diving with friends at a North Shore beach, police said.

The teenager's friends found him underwater and unresponsive about 5:15 p.m., police said.

He was pronounced dead after he was taken to a hospital.

Lihue man, 62, killed in collision

A 62-year-old Lihue man died yesterday from injuries in a motor vehicle collision at a Kauai raceway park, police said.

The man, identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner as Rudy Ramos, was flown to the Queens Medical Center in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 7:24 a.m. yesterday.

Woman lobs bottles from hotel

Police arrested a 37-year-old woman who was allegedly throwing bottles from a balcony of the Hyatt Regency Hotel yesterday afternoon.

Officers saw the woman throwing bottles onto Kalakaua Avenue and one of the objects came within 15 feet of striking an officer, police said. The woman was arrested for first-degree reckless endangerment.

Fight leads to Kalihi man's arrest

A 22-year-old Kalihi man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he allegedly punched a 62-year-old man seated in a truck, police said.

The younger man got into an argument with the other man and struck him in the face, police said.

Officers arrested the man at his home on suspicion of unauthorized entry in a motor vehicle.

Boys accuse man of sexual assaults

Police arrested a 23-year-old man, with no local address, who allegedly sexually assaulted two boys several years ago.

Police said the boys, ages 11 and 13, reported they had been sexually assaulted by a man from 2004 to 2005.

The suspect was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault.

Kauai restaurant worker robbed

Kauai police are asking for help in finding a man who allegedly robbed a Koloa restaurant employee after the business had closed.

Police said the employee was walking to his car parked near Weliweli and Koloa roads about 11:25 p.m. Wednesday when a man approached, demanded his money, then ran away.

Police said the man was about 6 feet tall and weighed about 180 pounds.
