Man, 19, sought in stabbing

Police were looking for a 19-year-old man in an attempted murder case after he stabbed another man who intervened in a fight Sunday night in Kalihi.

The suspect was fighting with another man when the victim, 32, tried to stop them, police said.

The suspect then turned on the victim and stabbed him with a sharp instrument, police said.

The victim was taken in critical condition to an area hospital, but later improved to serious condition.

The suspect fled before police arrived.

Police have classified the case as a second-degree attempted murder.

Bicyclist hurt in accident

The “;glare from the rising sun”; might have factored into an early morning accident in Pearl City that left a 64-year-old bicyclist in critical condition, police said.

Police said that at 6:24 a.m. yesterday, a 48-year-old Pearl City woman was heading northeast in a silver 1997 Honda Accord on Hoolaulea Street and was trying to make a left turn onto Noelani Street when her car hit the bicyclist, a Pearl City man, who was heading southwest on Hoolaulea.

The man suffered severe injuries and was taken in critical condition to the Queen's Medical Center. The woman was not injured.
