Marciel PGA tourney honors Chuckie Souza

There was loads of activity under the big tent at Mihana and Chuckie Souza's Kailua spread recently. The banquet for the 36th annual Marciel PGA golf tourney was held there June 19 and Chuckie received an award for his dedicated tourney service over the years. Chuckie, a retired fireman, says the Marciel PGA stands for Portuguese Galloping Around. Oooookay. He is also a Marciel descendant. The following day, the Souzas tossed a surprise party for their daughter Mahina's birthday. Then the biggie came on Monday when Mahina threw a surprise 60th birthday for her mother Mihana and uncle Noah Aluli. It's a good thing the Souzas have four big boys to help out at home ...

Michael Okuda is a designer whose work soars high in the stratosphere and has him sitting on top of the world. He is a veteran graphic artist and will receive NASA's Exceptional Public Service Medal July 9 at Houston's Johnson Space Center for his art work on multiple exploration missions. Michael is a Roosevelt High and UH graduate. His latest project was designing the mission patch for the space shuttle Atlantis mission to repair the Hubble space telescope. Mike has been heavily involved in the “;Star Trek Remastered”; series, along with his wife Denise Okuda. He was responsible for the control panels, signage, alien written languages and more ...

Stan Jacobs is holding a gathering of friends on his missing wife's birthday Tuesday at the Elks Club, 6 p.m. Kimberly Jacobs disappeared the night of Aug. 21 last year without a trace. None of her possessions—passport, credit cards, cash, cell phone—was missing. Fifty rainbow colored homing pigeons will be released at the gathering ... Takeo Kobayashi sends word that Miss Hawaii USA Aureana Tseu has turned to recording and has signed with Avex, one of the big entertainment management companies in Japan. She has also been hired as a spokesmodel for Ed Hardy / Christian Audigier clothing ...
