Zemljak named all-academic

Hawaii sophomore Nejc Zemljak was named to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball all-academic team, the conference announced yesterday.

The 2009 team included 42 student-athletes.

Zemljak, who is from Slovenia, started 12 matches at setter and played in 21 matches, averaging 9.72 assists and 1.80 digs per set.

 

Hawaii volleyball clinics upcoming

The Rainbow Wahine volleyball summer camps are coming up.

The camps are for boys and girls in grades 4-12 and will run June 18-21, July 21-24, July 26-29 and Aug. 3-6 from 1 to 5 p.m. each day.

The cost of the camp, which is designed for all skill levels, is $160.

Instructors are Hawaii women's volleyball coach Dave Shoji and his staff, as well as former UH volleyball players.

Hawaii Pacific finishes No. 20

The Hawaii Pacific softball team ended up No. 20 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II poll.

The Sea Warriors went as far as the NCAA West Region tournament and finished the season at 43-5. They also finished the regular season with a 5-3 record against teams in the final Top 25 poll, including a 3-2 win against eventual national champion Lockhaven (Pa.).
