Current Pacific women's volleyball coach Charlie Wade will succeed Mike Wilton as the Hawaii men's volleyball coach, a source confirmed last night.

The 11-year assistant for the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team will be named head coach at a press conference this morning at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Wade served as the associate head coach for the Wahine program for nine years before leaving for Pacific in 2006. The Cal State Fullerton graduate was 38-46 his three years with the Tigers program.

He succeeds Mike Wilton, who had a career record of 316-167. Wilton finished 9-18 last year and had hoped his longtime assistant, Tino Reyes, would succeed him. Together, they led Hawaii to a national championship in 2002 that was later revoked by the NCAA for using Costas Theocharidis, who was ruled ineligible.
