HPU taps Sted as chairman

Chuck Sted, the president and chief executive of Hawaii Pacific Health, has been elected chairman of Hawaii Pacific University's board of trustees, it was announced yesterday.

“;Over the years, I've done anything I could both professionally and personally to help Hawaii Pacific University because I believe firmly in their mission which is to educate for global citizenship,”; Sted, a board member since 2004, said in a news release. He replaces longtime Chairman William E. Aull, who died April 24.

Hawaii Pacific Health, with 5,300 employees, includes Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children, Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi, Straub Clinic & Hospital and Wilcox Health.

Sted joined Hawaii Pacific Health in 1998. Before that he was chief financial officer of Bank of America-Hawaii.

“;Chuck is truly one of the outstanding corporate leaders in Hawaii, and we have worked together on many professional and community projects over the years,”; said HPU President Chatt Wright.
