Teams from Campbell High School and Kapolei Middle School took first-place honors and the Lani Moo trophies in Meadow Gold Dairies of Hawaii's 13th Annual Milk Carton Regatta.

Mental Health America of Hawaii gave a Mahalo Award to Dr. Naleen Andrade, professor and chairwoman of the Department of Psychiatry at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii. Andrade was recognized for leadership on native Hawaiian mental health issues.

Other honorees were Dr. Tom Leland, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Donald Piburn, for his work for the state Department of Health with preschool children and for promoting male involvement in early childhood education; Maile Watters, a youth advocate; and Gary Nishi of Greenthumb Inc. in Waimanalo, for hiring those with serious and persistent mental illness. Consumer advocate Laurie Meech was given a posthumous award for her efforts advocating for the rights of others.
