Diane Ericson will speak about increasing your design and creativity skills during a talk sponsored by the Hawaii Stitchery and Fibre Arts Guild at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Linekona Art Center.

She will have examples of her recycled couture to share.

The event starts with a 6:30 p.m. reception, with vegetarian pupu available for a $5 donation.

The talk is in advance of Ericson's workshop on accessory and detail techniques from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 9-10 at the art center.

She will be sharing her best techniques and secrets for creating memorable design details for your clothing or wardrobe accessories over two days of hands-on play using your fabrics, trims and treasures in new ways, including use of insets, easy covered cording and bias trims, fabric buttons as closures and jewelry elements, and adding surface designs with paints, layering and drawing with a needle and thread. Bring a vest to play on, materials for an art bag or treasures for a new jewelry piece.

The cost of the workshop is $160 for HSFAG members, $185 for nonmembers. E-mail .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
