Police arrested a 33-year-old Waianae woman who they say hit a police officer with her pickup truck, knocked him to the ground and ran over his foot.

The officer fired one shot, but it did not hit the woman, said Maj. Frank Fujii, Honolulu Police Department spokesman.

He said the incident started at about 8:30 a.m. yesterday when police were called to a domestic dispute in a truck on Lualualei Homestead Road in Waianae, Fujii said.

The officer saw the truck as it passed him, Fujii said. The driver, a woman, then made a U-turn and accelerated toward the officer, striking him, knocking him to the ground and running over his right foot, Fujii said.

That was when the officer fired.

The woman turned herself in at the Waianae Police Station at about 9:30 a.m. She was arrested for investigation of first-degree attempted murder of a police officer, first-degree terroristic threatening and an outstanding traffic warrant, Fujii said.

The threatening offense was elevated to a second-degree attempted murder of her boyfriend, Fujii said.

The woman allegedly used the pickup truck in an attempt to kill her boyfriend, but Fujii had no further details.

The boyfriend was not hurt.

The officer, 38, has been on the force for 3 1/2 years. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not available.

Police said they found the truck.
