Now the sharks are really circling

The uproar over a scrapped shark dive off Maunalua Bay could spill over to the North Shore, where two similar operations thrive. As the debate raged over the East Oahu plan, an official from the National Marine Fisheries Services explained that it is illegal to chum the waters to attract sharks for any purpose other than to kill the sharks for food, even outside of state jurisdiction. Since underwater adventurers are paying to see sharks, not to kill them, it looks like any such venture in Hawaii could be sunk.
