Waialua man killed in crash identified

A 76-year-old Waialua man who died Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash on Kaukonahua Road was identified by the Honolulu Medical Examiner's office as Orrin L. Pollock.

Police said Pollock was headed toward the North Shore when his pickup truck went off the road and hit a tree.

He died of multiple internal injuries due to the crash.

Pedestrian injured crossing Aiea road

A 69-year-old Aiea woman was critically injured yesterday afternoon after being hit by a car while she was crossing Kaimakani Street within a crosswalk.

A 69-year-old Aiea man, driving a 2001 gold Chevy Malibu sedan, was making a left turn from Moanalua Road onto Kaimakani Street when the car struck the woman, police said.

The woman was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition with head injuries, police said. The accident occurred at 2:09 p.m. at the intersection of Kaimakani and Moanalua Road. Police shut down Moanalua Road fronting St. Elizabeth School between Aiea Access Road and Kaimakani Street for 3 1/2 hours while police investigated the scene.

Girlfriend's beating brings man's arrest

Police arrested a 26-year-old Palolo man who allegedly threatened his girlfriend and slammed her head against the dashboard of a car.

Police said the victim, 31, told them that her boyfriend became enraged when he saw her talking with another man.

At about 6:20 p.m. Wednesday the suspect drove the victim to Round Top Drive in Makiki. While in the car the suspect allegedly threatened to kill her with a knife and slammed her head against the dashboard several times.

The suspect held her against her will for several hours until she was able to escape, police said. Police arrested the suspect nearby for investigation of kidnapping, first-degree terroristic threatening and abuse of a household member.

 

Makiki man held in March shooting

Police arrested a 25-year-old Makiki man Wednesday who allegedly shot another man without provocation last month.

Police said the victim, 23, was drinking beer with friends at about 12:30 a.m. March 16 in Kalihi when a car pulled up and five males got out.

Someone yelled “;gun”; and the victim and a witness ran, police said. A gun was fired and the victim was hit in the buttocks, police said.
