Journalism excellence cited at annual publishers awards

The Star-Bulletin won 24 Pa'i awards yesterday, including seven first-place prizes, in the annual competition sponsored by the Hawaii Publishers Association.

The Honolulu Advertiser came in second in the prize count with 23, including 10 first-place awards.

Winning first and second place in the editorial cartoon category was the late Corky Trinidad of the Star-Bulletin.

Other first-place awards for the Star-Bulletin were for enterprise reporting, arts and entertainment, feature photo, spot news photo, excellence in illustration and best program booklet.
