A 30-year-old Kalihi man died after he was gunned down early yesterday by two men in Chinatown.

The victim's name was not released.

Sometime before 4:15 a.m., the victim was standing near River and Pauahi streets when he got into an argument with two men in a light-colored American-made sedan, said Lt. Bill Kato of the Honolulu Police Department's Homicide Detail.

The victim was crossing the street when the two suspects allegedly shot him in the back. Police are also looking for a third suspect involved in the shooting.

Area residents said they heard multiple gunshots, which some thought were the sound of firecrackers.

The victim was taken to the Queen's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

It is not known whether the victim or the suspects knew one another or what type of firearm was used in the shooting.

Sexual assault and theft bring charges

A 24-year-old man was charged with allegedly stealing a car and sexually assaulting a woman in Honolulu.

Police identified the man as Jason K. Kiyuna of no local address. About 6:35 a.m. Nov. 7, Kiyuna got into a 43-year-old woman's vehicle and brandished a shotgun. Police said the suspect then threatened the victim, demanded her jewelry and allegedly sexually assaulted her before he fled in her vehicle.

About two hours later, the victim's vehicle was found abandoned at a different location.

Kiyuna was later identified in a physical lineup and had since been arrested and held at the Oahu Community Correctional Center for a previous theft case. District 5 Crime Reduction Unit officers arrested Kiyuna at the prison for the offenses relating to the 43-year-old woman.

He was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of third-degree sexual assault and unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle. Kiyuna is being held in lieu of $200,000 aggregate bail.
