Home styling tips from a design pro offered at Place

Drop by Place at 40 S. School St. this tomorrow for a free workshop on how to use detailing vignettes to turn any room into a stylish showplace.

Classes will be lead by award-winning interior designer Mary Philpotts McGrath. While there, take in their new expanded showroom featuring works by Kaeo studio , George Woollard and McGrath.

Workshop hours are 3 p.m. tomorrow, but if you miss that, there are others: 5 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. March 28. Each sessions lasts about 45 minutes.

Hawaii Woodshow showcases art made from local wood

Hawaii's Woodshow will present its 17th-annual juried show March 28 through April 5 at the Academy Arts Center at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, 900 S. Beretania St.

Only island-grown woods are used in the show, sponsored by the Hawaii Forest Industry Association, to promote sustainable forest products.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 28, and April 3 and 4; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 29, and March 31 through April 2. It is closed March 30.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted at the door to help HFIA in its efforts to protect Hawaii's forests. Visit hawaiiforest.org or call 221-5171.
