HBA, Kauai, Mililani, Waipahu and St. Andrew's Priory win Japan trip

Hawaii Baptist Academy, Kauai, Mililani, and Waipahu high schools, and St. Andrew's Priory won trips to Japan this summer in the sixth annual Japan Wizards Statewide Academic Team Competition, sponsored by the Japan-America Society of Hawaii.

The Atsuhiko Tateuchi Memorial Award for Outstanding Scholarship was presented to Mililani High School for being the highest scoring team.

The Office of Hawaiian Affairs awarded $62,000 to the Domestic Violence Action Center to support legal services for Native Hawaiian victims.

Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union announced the following promotions: Rita Ornellas to executive vice president. She has more than 25 years of experience in the banking and insurance industries.

Malcolm S.H. Inamine, to director of human resources. He joined the credit union in 2007 as human resources manager and has also held human resources positions for Best Buy Hawaii, The Home Depot and Waikiki Trader Group.
