HECO strikes wind-power deal

Hawaiian Electric Co. has agreed to purchase energy from First Wind's Molokai wind farms and Castle & Cooke.

The agreement calls for HECO to negotiate long-term contracts to purchase 400 megawatts of wind energy, including 200 megawatts from both First Wind and Castle & Cooke for Oahu's grid.

L&L, Hawaiian Air team up

L&L Drive-Inn and Hawaiian Airlines have teamed up to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the airline's Manila route.

Starting today, a limited number of coupons for $100 discounts on Manila flights will be available at all L&L locations with the purchase of a large fountain drink.

This weekend, select L&L locations will give discount coupons for $200 off travel to Manila, to the first 100 people who purchase a large fountain drink, while supplies last.

The $200 coupons will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Iwilei and Waiakea stores and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lihue and Wailuku restaurants.

Travel to Manila must be booked by April 17 and can be applied to travel through the end of the year, with some blackout dates.
